Description

Every job description says: “Excellent written and verbal communication skills required”!

Why is “excellent” writing important to business? Because bad business writing wastes time. It takes longer to read and understand something that’s poorly written. And when poorly written material goes out to dozens or hundreds of people in your organization, the amount of company time wasted (and therefore expense wasted) is considerable!

Typical one-day Business Writing workshops, with rapid-fire instruction about communication “best practices,” don’t work because, if you want to be a better writer, you have to write, revise, rewrite. In other words practice with feedback.

“Business Writing Online” is an eight-week class that can really make you a better writer.

Benefits

In Business Writing Online, you’ll spend an hour a week in class learning to:

  • Organize from the bottom up

  • Be not only concise but compelling

  • Write material people look forward to reading

  • Freshen up your language

  • Apply your creativity, even your sense of humor!

  • Arrange abstract topics efficiently

  • Clear up ambiguity in your writing

  • Write powerful sentences

Then you’ll put what you learn to use. After each class, you’ll receive a case study to read and you’ll then organize, write or revise a document prior to the next class. (Note: If you’re working on a written deliverable at work that’s right in line with the topic under discussion, you may submit your current work assignment in lieu of the case study assignment.)

Who should attend:

Just about anyone who has to write at work. Whether you write RFP’s, proposals, design documents, budget notes, status reports, test plans, test results, project plans, requirements documents, how-to guides, re-org announcements, correspondence—this class is for you.

(Note: This class does not cover anything about contract writing or how to write legalese.)

Limit: 12 students per class.
