José Campos

José Campos held multiple managerial positions throughout his 20+ year corporate career where his contributions included the definition, verification, and rollout of high-tech products including oscilloscopes, precision test signal generators, and computer graphics equipment.  As the quality officer for Tektronix's worldwide service organization, José helped improve engineers' productivity by providing a unified voice on quality issues and developing innovative ways to measure customer satisfaction.  Mr. Campos also led company efforts to define and introduce hugely successful products using programs he designed to make engineers more customer-driven.  Jose's expertise qualifies him to address development issues related to software and hardware products, e-commerce, and other new technologies.

Prompted by major new trends in product definition and development – many of which he was already employing – Mr. Campos ventured into the consulting field.  He has since helped companies such as Hewlett-Packard, Intel, NASA and Mentor Graphics implement best practices in customer-oriented new product development using inventive web-based tools and deep knowledge of virtual teams and knowledge management.

His expertise in the area of Voice of the Customer led to José creating a systematic model for innovation development and strategy definition that helps reduce cycle time for new products.  He pioneered the Panel of Experts (PoE) model for obtaining customer input that has been adopted to define many successful products in high-tech companies.  Jose's work enables technical and marketing professionals to collaborate effectively and interact with customers in a manner that increases the velocity of new product development.  He has helped organizations make cultural shifts to be more customer-focused.  His actionable style enables customers to rapidly achieve visible results.

José is an economic development commissioner for the state of Oregon and serves as a member of the governor's Small Business Council. In addition, Mr. Campos is active in the Software Association of Oregon with its special interest group on knowledge management.  He serves as adjunct faculty for Portland State University and the Oregon Graduate Institute.  José is coauthor of Capture and Use the Voice of the Customer for Product Development.
